How can i restore iphone from icloud after Sophos install

Hi guys

I have a load of iPhone which i have installed the Sophos mobile control app. Obviously, to do i had to wipe each iPhone as using Apple configurator it has to wipe the device before the phone is "supervised" and the Sophos management has been installed.

My question is this... can I restore a backup from the icloud without having to reset the phone as this takes the supervised mode away and therefore is no longer managed by Sophos??

Thank you.

  • i have found that if you supervise a device on AC, then set it up as a new iphone, factory reset it (ONCE) then set it backup and restore from backup. on the devices i have done this with it does keep the supervised mode for 1 wipe only. if its wiped a second time then its lost.

so as a test supervise a device on AC, wipe it. then when it boots back up restore from backup and then when it completes it should still be supervised.

    hope this helps

  • this didnt work, set up as new iphone with AC and was supervised with Sophos MDM. I then reset the phone to then restore from icloud backup and lost the supervised mode and no longer enrolled with Sophos.

  • strange worked for me, let me grad a device tonight and test. it would not be enrolled in MDM after the reset, would need to be re-enrolled.

    i wiped the device

    supervised it on AC

now im wondering, did i use Itunes backup or icloud backup to restore. i may have used itunes as far far quicker to restore.

    will tes and come back.
