Server 2012 Compatibility

We're about to upgrade our Sophos PureMessage server from Server 2008 R2 to Server 2012 R2 and we would like to know if there are any compatibility issues we should be aware of. We are currently running V3.1.0.0 on a Hyper-V VM.

Thanks.

  • Just to clarify,

Version 3.1.3+ will run on 2012 how ever you are limited to exchange 2010+

Version 4+ is the best choice for 2012 + Exchange 2013+

check out https://sophos.com/kb/118640  for all of the requirements.

note the special requirements at the very bottom.

If you go the 4.1+ route you will not be able to transfer your configuration / database directly.  So I would export any text / rules to flat files so you can re-import them.  As for the DB create a new one for 4.0, the only thing it really does is hold spam and configuration stuff. If you really wanted to keep the spam I suppose you could select it out and import it to the new DB but in all honestly its probably not worth the effort.
