How to stop Event log entries for "Message '<9f567ffd1a744713bd53a95ffd7e8655@MBX01.domain.com>' has no recipients"

I see quite a few of these messages in my Event log. The message is actually an Exchange 2013 mailbox health probe. Is there a way to stop these warnings from appearing in my event logs?

  • Hi everyone,

    No worries about eventID 98.

I believe that from MS Exchange 2013 CU9 (not 100% sure about this), Microsoft implemented something new and now Exchange sends probe emails to itself, just to check health on the transport pipeline.

You should see an eventID 98  per database every 5 minutes...let's say you have 1 public store and a private store...Puremessage logs 2 events because the emails don't have any recipient.

If you guys enable journaling on Exchange, you should be able to see those emails.

    Hope this helps!

  • This does still not answer the original question, which was, how to stop these events to fill the event log with clutter for these well known messages.

    Best greetings from Germany
    Olaf
