Astaro ASG 8 does DNS query for "*.ctmail.com" every 30 seconds

Hello !

I am just wondering why my Astaro ASG 8.003 is doing a DNS query for "*.ctmail.com" every 30 seconds.

    But I do not use email anti-spam (it is turned off). 

    Is there any way to stop Astaro doing the DNS query ?

    Commtouch engine is also used for some kind of URL filtering - is the http proxy enabled and content filtering active? This would explain the DNS requests.

    Yes URL filter and http proxy is enabled. 

    I was just wondinger that ASG is doing regular DNS queries also when not traffic occurs on the http proxy.

    Since reputation and categorization lookups must happen very quickly, the systems can be a little "chatty".  They are checking frequently to make sure the system has the latest server information at all times so that lookups will be as close to instant as possible when they are done.  As with any distributed system, individual nodes may come online or go offline for a variety of reasons, thus the frequent checking in.
