Virtual appliance as Fail over

We have a SG210 physical box and it has been rock-solid.  I am keen to get a second instance, purely as failover.  We have plenty of VM capacity on site.

I was thinking about having a virtual appliance as a failover, as I presume the licensing costs will be less.

Does anyone have this setup?  Does it work well?

Thanks

  • Your Sophos partner reseller should have answered this question for you.  A VM can't be used as an Active/Passive failover for a Sophos appliance.  In fact, the licenses for appliance and software versions are different.  The most-cost-effective failover approach would be a second SG 210.
