SafeGuard Credential Provider Login Timeout

Platform:

Windows 10 and Sophos SafeGuard 8

Issue:

If a computer is not connected to the internal company network (where the SafeGuard server is hosted) and attempts to authenticate to Windows using the SafeGuard credential provider, the login takes a very long time because it has to wait for the server connection to time out. Is there a way to decrease this timeout by configuring the client or policy?

If the user uses the default Windows 10 credential provider then the login is quick and responsive, even without network connectivity to our internal network.

  • Probably wise. All my laptops are bound to the domain and they all log in with cached creds and other than those that had the outdated client issue - I've never seen a delay in logging in. There is a difference between Sophos CP and the Windows CP but it's negligible really. Do all clients do this?
