Wifi not auto-connecting on Android

Hi,

since a while our Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2016 are not connecting automatically to WPA2-PSK Wifi with Wifi profile deployed through Sophos Mobile (on-prem), but it is possible to connect to the deployed profile in the settings app. When creating the Wifi profile manually in the settings app auto-connection is working as expected.

We are experiencing the issue with the latest Sophos Mobile app version 9.0.3410, but also tried older versions 7 and 8. We have tested with both hidden and visible SSIDs. Sophos Mobile server is at 9.0.2 (latest), the tablets are running Android 8.1 (latest).

Does anyone has a solution for this?

Kind Regards, Martin Feuerstein

  • Problem solved or to be precise, a workaround: The WiFi profile was set to "WPA2 Personal" in the Sophos UTM - the tablet is not connecting automatically (but it is possible to connect manually). When the profile is set to "WPA/WPA2 Personal" or "WPA Personal", the tablet connects automatically.

So maybe the WiFi profile on the device created by Sophos Mobile contains wrong settings?
