SUM not updating.....Sync failure: Cannot create stream

Hi we were running Enterprise Console ver 5.0. 2 days back server crashed. We had backup of cert key and DB and restored in a new server.,

Till now we noticed all the SUM giving error like THREAT DETECTION DATA UPDATE FAILED or SOFTWARE DELIVERY FAILED.

We found the error below in the SUM (remote SUM).

In the LogViewer we found

DECODING OF PRODUCT RELEASE SOPHOS UPDATE MANAGER VERSION RECOMMENDED WAS NOT DONE BECAUSE THE SYNCHRONIZATION FAILED

Suggest what to do now.

  • Hello Fazlur_SDTL,

so the error occurs "only" on your remote SUMs, not the master (which would be 10.11.1.42)? Are they configured to update (Sources tab) just from the master or do they have Sophos as alternate source and are these additional SUMs or independent consoles (SEC) - and if, are they all version 5.0?

Can't find the mentioned file (df7d02...) on my servers. It's expected to be in the folder \Warehouse\2DE69C24-D975-47b2-8D2F-6BEA861A9C75\ and belongs to Patch Server. Guess on your restored server there's a different name. Starting with sdds.local.xml in \Warehouse\catalogue\ you'll find a reference to an xml file (the one tagged <file>), which in turn lists the various components (with the rigidName tag, you should find 2DE69C24-... there) and associated files. Guess the contents differ between master and remote SUMs.

Can't say what could be the reason for this. I assume the remote SUMs aren't updating at all, so it should do no harm to stop the SUM service on one of them, empty the Warehouse, start the service and request an update. This should cause the Warehouse to be rebuilt - hopefully without an error. Of course, if you are unsure please contact Support.

  • Dear Christian,

Thanks for your suggestion. Only the head office SOPHOS Server is downloading udpates from SOPHOS site. We have SUM in each remote offices (only SUM) which pull update from the main server (HQ)
