Reconfigure SVM after initial install, configuration, and deployment

Hello,

I actually have a multipart question here.

First, is there is way to reconfigure or check configuration of the production SVMs?

Second, can the Guest installer be installed using a DNS name rather than the IP?

Third, when the Guest installer is ran from the SVM's share should the IP be preconfigured in the Guest installer?

My end goal is to use truncated DNS names to resolve the IPs of SVMs for easy deploy and management and my guess is that the DNS part of the initial configurations of the SVMs was not completed.

 

Any feedback or a point in the right directions would be really appreciated.

    • No, I afraid that the only way to reconfigure the SVM is to run the installer again, and delete the older SVM

    Second, can the Guest installer be installed using a DNS name rather than the IP?

    • No, the guest installer requires the IP address of an SVM, it will not install if you use the DNS name instead.

    Third, when the Guest installer is ran from the SVM's share should the IP be preconfigured in the Guest installer?

    • No, the IP address is not preconfigured when run from the SVM’s share.
