message relay on 2003

Hi all

ok posted up a month or so ago about problems i was having with message relays and the setup. still on the same this (been shoved on other jobs) im trying to get message relay to work on a 2003 server works fine on our 2008 servers but dosent want to work on 2003.

the only thing i can see that's different is the 2003 dosnt have an ipv6 address no idea if that might be it.

the SEC sits on a 2008 server.

is there also a SUM on the 2003?
What exactly is doesn't want to work? It doesn't connect to the management server, or it does connect (i.e. is seen a connected in the console) but the downstream endpoints don't?

Hi christian

yes the server was already a SUM server.
on the reportdata.xml file it still says endpoint instead of relay. everything still seams to connect back to the SEC and updating fine.

Hello Kurt,

when SUM is installed it "takes over" RMS, reconfigurations are prevented. The recommended correct method is described in Deploying a message relay and SUM (how do you do it on the 2008s, BTW?). AFAIK setting the involved registry keys (see Technical information in configuring message relay computers) to the relay values will do if the parent is correct.
