Restart needed for updates to take effect.

 Hi,

last week we had a problem with our autoupdate program (solved by Sophos Support! Thank you for this ;) ). Now we're having the following error message (Restart needed for updates to take effect.) in our Computers with errors part. Even after several reboot s and following this page: https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/31540 it doesn't change anything.

What are your suggestions?

Jo

  • Hi, I've found the culprit. In the past I've setup a GPO that checked with domain\user was being used to update. If it wasn't the correct domain (we changed domain), it reinstalled it with the proper credentials. This has been working for a couple of years now. But suddenly it didn't do this anymore. So now apparantly it's installing after every reboot and of course afterwards it needs to be 'restarted'.

For the moment I've disabled the GPO. But the goal is to have a new GPO that checks if Sophos has been installed. if not, it will be installed. This for new installations into our domain.
