Sophos Endpoint keeps showing Unassigned Computer Objects

Dear Experts,

I need a bit help here. So Sophos Endpoint has been installed on a server and has been synced with our AD, by using the "Discover Computer" and Discover with Active Directory.
Afterwards I started to set up the different folders in my Console. The folders I've then created syncs with the folders in my AD - but I've only chosen some folders, since I don't want all objects to get the Enpoint applied to.

So now comes the question. At the moment the Unassigned Counter shows like 200 objects, which I don't want it to. It should only show the number of machines that I actually have in the folders that I sync with. I tried marking all Unassigned computer objects and deleted them, but every single one of them came back after some time.

Do you guys know why this happens? Is this because of the first Discover Computers thing I did?

// Thanks

  • Hello C B,

    please use the exact terms where possible becuase your post is a little bit confusing [:)]. For example there is no Unassigned Counter, the dashboard has a count for Unmanaged objects and in the Groups pane there's an Unassigned group.
    Screenshots would help but you probably don't want to disclose internal information.

    If you indeed use AD sync (the folder icon in the Groups pane is green) you don't need Discover - but this is a one-time action so deleted computers should stay deleted.

    Last but not least - is ESC already installed on some endpoints (what's your Managed count)?
