Can't update from Web CID in IIS 7

 Hello all,

I'm probably not providing enough information here, but maybe this will serve as a start.  I'm trying to set up a Web CID in IIS 7 until I complete migration to Sophos Central.  I've followed the same procedure as I had done formerly for IIS 6 - same sharing and permissions on the Web CID share and same set up for the virtual directory in IIS.  From EC it looks like all is well with the Web CID but updating fails with clients unable to contact the server.  This is only a stopgap measure until I complete the migration but if anyone knows of something that needs to be done differently in in IIS 7 than in IIS 6 to get the Web CID working I'd be grateful to hear about it.

Thanks,

Steve

  • Hello Steve,

    probably not providing enough information
    probably [:)].
    Windows endpoints only?

clients unable to contact the server
    hm ...
any specific error? What's the result if you try to open, say, http://.../Snnn/SAVSCFXP/sdf.xml with a browser? You should also check the IIS logs. I think I had to make some minor adjustments when going to IIS7 but can't remember.

  • Thanks very much for the reply.  The issue may have been as simple as not having restarted IIS after adding the Sophos MIME types (though I hadn't thought it necessary).  After restarting IIS I can  update from one client on the LAN.  I'll have to confirm about clients outside the perimeter.  I've got very few remaining clients that aren't on Sophos Central yet, so I have to check with someone via email.

I'm hoping it's settled by restarting IIS.

Thanks again for the reply - I really appreciate it!
