Sophos Secondary Server Issue

Hi All,

How do i update the secondary server setting on a managed endpoint, i have tried to edit the iconn.cfg file by changing the allowconfig

[PPI.WebConfig_Secondary]
AllowLocalConfig = 0 --------- its now 1
AutoDialTimeout =
LocalPath =
DownloadGranularity =
ConnectionAddress = es-web.sophos.com/.../
UseSophos = 1
UserName = xxxxxx
UserPassword = EJqbbpoNH4Hb9nyXuPIEcRM=

Changed the username and the password on the sophos endpoint control on the PC but yet the username and password does not change on the iconn.cfg file.

Even changed the username and password on the iconn.cfg file manually to the correct username and password but yet still not working though this time around the password was not encrypted when changed manually on the file

How do i edit this setting so that the secondary server username and password will take effect on the iconn.cfg file.

Thank You!

  • Typically if it's a managed endpoint you would set such a config via SEC or even via a sauconf.xml - https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/13111.

    That said, You could change it locally by doing as you have done (although it will show as differs from policy in SEC) by making the config editable by updating iconn.cfg but then doesn't updating the config create an iconnlocal.cfg in the same directory for the locally made changes?

  • Hi Jak,

    Thanks for the response.

    I will try out the exporting the xml file, as for editing the iconn.cfg file it does not create an iconnlocal.cfg file automatically for locally made changes when updating the file.

    What do you think could be the issue?

    Thank You!
