Can not install Client on the server where console is installed

So far I got managed to install via console the client on other machines in the domain (by changing the GPO settings and file permissions).

But on the same machine the console is running it does not work to install the Scanner/Client.

  • Hello NikolaiHartz,

Protect Computers for the server itself should normally work. In principle the same settings (Task Scheduler running etc) as for other endpoints are required. An alternate option is manually running setup.exe from the CID. Do you have any details - error message(s), logs?

  • The error code is 29287 - some manual interaction may be needed. Was the same error I had before on the other machine. So I did the GPO things etc and it worked. I dont know where a log may be.

I thought about the manual setup, but i was not sure if it then is still managed by console and console may get infos about found viruses etc?

  • Hello NikolaiHartz,

in case of  The installation could not be started  there won't be any logs.

    manual setup
what Protect Computers does is basically running setup.exe from the CID as you would do on a manual install (only it does so by means of a started task and with switches instead of the GUI). If you use the GUI the computer will be managed, which is also the default hwen running setup.exe from the command line (but in this case it can be overridden).

  • Ok so I just have to run setup.exe and maybe change the update-path? And the console will get notified on found virues etc and is also capable to control the scanner settings?

  • Hello NikolaiHartz,

you just enter/specify the credentials (if required), the path is that for setup.exe. With the command line you could specify a different path but normally - as the computer is managed - you move it to the desired group and it will get its policies from there.
