Remove Update Manager

Hi,

We have a single server that is Management Console, Management Database & Management Server 5.2.2.      We then have multiple SUMs around various remote offices that provide updates to clients at that office.

We want to remove some of the SUMs as we are now pointing all clients at the default location.  I can't find any articles for correctly removing a SUM.  I have tried removing it from the console (right click & delete) but it adds back in after a few minutes.  I have also removed Sophos Update Manager (1.6.0) from the server and then tried removing from the console, again it adds back in.

Any help is much appreciated.

thanks

that is, it re-appears under Update Managers? I haven't removed a SUM since ... can't remember. I'd expect that after uninstalling the endpoint (server) no longer claims it's a SUM. Now it talks using RMS and if SUM is installed RMS doesn't appear as installed component. Apparently RMS is still on the machine - does it appear in Programs and Features?
Is the SUM adapter (together with data) still present under %ProgramData%\Sophos\Remote Management System\3\Agent\AdapterStorage\SDDM? Normally the Status files there would be recent. If they are from before the SUM uninstall this would indicate that SUM is gone and maybe RMS just picks up and sends the old data. If you delete the contents of the SDDM folder and delete the SUM from the console - does it still re-appear?

I'm not sure if uninstalling SUM gives back control of RMS updating to AutoUpdate. Can't test but I'd reprotect (i.e. reinstall the Endpoint component) the server and check the status of RMS.
