New Mac is showing as offline, but it isn't

SOrry, it is even shown as not configured. There is even no red cross to indicate it is disconnected. It is as it recognizes the machine, but that it isn't protected. Strange.

I installed Sophos on the Mac, then added the mac on the console
if you install the managed version an endpoint should report to the management server and appear in the console (Unassigned unless you've configure the installer with an initial grouppath) after not more than a few minutes. No need to import the computer object. Apparently what you see is the added "skeleton". With Import or Synchronize SEC does not recognize the machine, it just grabs some attributes from AD. While Discover assures that the machine is on your network and alive the contact is only on the OS level. It is the endpoint which has to initiate (RMS) communication to subsequently appear as managed (with the possible states of Connected or Disconnected).
It's not your first Mac in the domain, is it?

Hello Jo,

if your inactive entry is in Unassigned and you did not preconfigure the group with the installer the endpoint can't or doesn't connect. If your entry is in a specific group please check Unassigned for a new computer. The name hasn't been in use before, has it?

Hi Christian,

I installed Sophos on the Mac by going (on the Mac) to the (Sophos) server where I used the installer. I can't install Sophos on a Mac through the console, like you can for Windows.
