Scheduled scan profile doesn't exclude external HDDs?

Hi all,

I have a scanning profile for a group of Windows 8 machines. The profile just specifies to scan Local drives only. Somehow it always scan the external HDD everyday?

What's wrong with it?

Thanks,

Jimmy

  • Hello Jimmy,

you're just showing your policy but not how the device appears in Windows (preferably in Disk Management) and how you found out that it is scanned?

  • Hi Christian,

I removed the disk a few days ago and just plugged it back today.

For scanning log, I'll see what happen in tomorrow scan schedule and post it here.

    Thanks,

    Jimmy

  • Hello Jimmy,

thanks for the screenshot, no need for the log. The disk definitely appears as local disk - otherwise it should show  Removable  below Disk 1 instead of  Basic . Thus the scan is correct.

Unfortunately you can exclude volumes/drives only by letter so in order to exclude it by policy you'd have to make sure it always gets the same letter.
