Fresh SEC But No Tamper Protection Password for existing Endpoints

Hi,

I tried to remove Tamper Password with your documentation but when I click on authenticate user and insert the password :  YAY the dialog show me that the password is incorrect.

This is my scenario :

I have Sophos Endopoint with Management Console but the Installation on the server is corrupt and i don't remember the tamper password. Now I have install on a new server Windows 2012 R2 a fresh installation of Enterprise Console 5.4 and I would refresh installation on all client.

Is urgent. Thank's a lot in advance.

Regards.

  • Hello MauroCanzi,

if I understand you correctly you had to install a fresh SEC, your existing endpoints have Tamper Protection enabled but you don't remember the password. You now want to regain control of your endpoints, correct?
Sounds like you want to uninstall on the endpoints (otherwise the TP password shouldn't come into play)? This shouldn't be necessary as the usual methods to install SAV/SESC (running setup.exe from the CID, a package, and last but not least Protect Computers) should work regardless of Tamper Protection. Another method to "rope in" your endpoints is described in How to redirect Windows endpoints to a new management server.
