switching AD servers

Good morning all.

ok so long story short, we had major problems last week and ended up with most of our AD servers being tombstoned :( so now i have a problem with SEC. our SEC seams to point at out primary DC but that is still not working properly. we have since added more PC's to our ad that haven't turned up on our primary DC witch also means there on in the SEC.

so question is how do i get SEC to look at one of our other DC servers for its AD sync or dose it only look for the primary.

  • Hello vospersIT,

SEC uses the standard Windows APIs, in particular it doesn't select (and retain) a specific domain controller (there is no longer a PDC anyway). If the SEC server after a reboot still connects to the crippled DC there's not much you can do except for sorting out the AD issues.
