Unable to protect a new server 2012 R2 machine

I am trying to protect a new server that I have created which is server 2012 R2. It is discovered but when I click to protect it I get the error "The applied software subscription does not contain software this computer can use". How do I overcome this problem please?

  • Hi,

If it's a single computer causing you a problem, if you look in SEC at the bootstrap locations (View->Bootstrap Locations).

From the 2012 R2 computer are you able to just manually browse to and run setup.exe from the CID of choice?  I'm guessing the one created as the Recommended subscription?

You don't have to push an install, you can perform a manual bootstrap and the outcome will be the same.  The Protect from SEC just creates a scheduled task on the target computer to run setup.exe.    If needed, you can perform a silent install as per: www.sophos.com/.../12570.aspx

  • Hi

Thanks. I was initially having a problem pulling it from the server itself which is why I tried the push option however I was being a bit dim and it was actually the logon credentials causing the problem for that (domain needed to be in capitals!). I have now managed to install it :-)

    Thanks
