Is there a way for me to create a pre-configured installer for Mac from a Windows based Sophos Enterprise Console?

Hello -

We currently have a Windows based Sophos Enterprise Console and we are updating and maintaining mac clients via our policy so the files are located in <servername>\SophosUpdate\CIDs\S000\ESCOSX

Is there a way to create a pre-configured Mac installation package that can be installed on the machine locally?

Additionally, is there a way to utilize pre-configuration so the clients get placed in the proper group for management?

Thanks!

  • Hi,

    Does this help:
    www.sophos.com/.../119744.aspx

I don't think Mac has the equivalent of the Windows -G setup.exe switch.

You should be able to "pre-stage" the computer name in SEC in the right group so when the computer becomes managed it doesn't go into unassigned but becomes "managed" in the correct group. There is an import groups/computers from text file option. The help has details on the format of the file.

    Regards,
    Jak
  • HI Jak, unfortunately it doesn't in our case. We don't have any mac locally to do the listed commands from that article to create or configure the package. Our clients are the ones with macs that need protection, and we are a Windows-only env.

I'll look into "pre-staging" the computer to try and automate that portion of it.

    Thank you for the information!
