Enterprise Console issue

Basically not much detail. I have attached a screen shot of the event log.

I have done some research but they have not been of any help.

this from the System log, isn't it? The SideBySide error might be in the Application log (but perhaps you've checked this already).

That is from the application log and yes I have checked the SideBySide error which is in the system log. 

I do not know what else to try

Right so I just played around and ran the Sophos AV msi installer, Remote Management MSI installer and AutoUpdate MSI installer, then ran setup.exe  and this resolved my issue. I now have both the Update Manager and Sophos AV running successfully

I was about to follow up when I saw your post, congrats.

Now you shouldn't run the .msis individually - but then you've followed this by running setup.exe again and apparently this sequence fixed it. I have no idea though what the issue could have been. ALsvc.exe's manifest references the VC90 runtime which is usually present and the reference can be resolved in winSxS (if not, there are "private" copies in the Sophos\AutoUpdate directory).
