Sophos Enterprise Console 5.2.2 OS upgrade to Server 2008 R2

Hi,

We have Sophos Enterprise Console 5.2.2 installed on a server with Server 2003 Standard 32bit installed. We want to upgrade the server to Server 2008 R2 and were thinking of upgarding over the top of 2003, as this is 32bit to 64bit, will Sophos still work or will it need reinstalling?

Any help or advice would be great.

Cheers,

Ben.

  • Hello Ben,

:smileytongue: I ascribed it to Monday morning that I thought you intend an inplace upgrade from 2003 to 2008 ... hm, it seems that this is indeed the case.

Supported and possible doesn't mean that it's wise do it though. In particular the Guide for Upgrading to Windows Server 2008 says at the top: We recommend a clean installation of Windows Server 2008 whenever possible (also note the use of clean installation). Furthermore it states: cross-architecture upgrades (32-bit to x64-bit or the reverse) are not supported.
