Add device exemption in Device Control

Hi,

I want to block usage of USB ports on a particular PC with the exception of a USB Gemalto card reader. I have blocked access to all devices on that PC and made sure that it is monitor mode only. The USB card reader has been used but when I check to see what devices are reported as having being used, it's not showing under either removable devices or optical drives.

Is it possible to manually add the device, using its hardware ID?

 

We're using Sophos Enterprise Console 5.5.0

    Hello Paul Gray,

    it's not showing
    in this case I'd use a Block policy to check whether it is blocked at all. Normally a smart card doesn't appear as storage.

    I want to block usage of USB ports
    please note that you don't block ports, Device Control is port-agnostic, you block certain types or classes of devices.

    Hi Christian,

     

    Thanks for the reply and my apologies for not getting back to you sooner. The device is not reporting back, so I'll go ahead and block everything and see what happens.
