Failed to install Sophos AutoUpdate: Package Authentication Failed

Hi there,

Apologies if this issue is located in the wrong subforum.

We are having issues with one machine out of hundreds that is showing the following error:

Failed to install Sophos AutoUpdate: Package Authentication Failed - code 00000067.

This error has been persistent for the past 9 days and when attempting to resolve the error, it does persist. On the users end it displays that the Sophos End point is out of date.

Looking at the log file for the autoupdate the following is displayed:

Trace(2017-Jul-19 07:57:08): CIDUpdate(PrimarySuccess):
Trace(2017-Jul-19 07:57:09): CIDUpdateLocation::Prepare... entered
Trace(2017-Jul-19 07:57:09): CheckManifest: invalid package:invalid file=.\Sophos AutoUpdate.msi expected_size=3338240expected checksum=4706094a6ea120c5dbc4ffe
Trace(2017-Jul-19 07:57:09): Failed to gather product ID information: Package signature invalid

The console also displays that the user is awaiting a policy transfer. I've looked around and seen suggestions that a reinstall of Sophos may fix the issue. Is this the only way?

Many thanks,

Andy

  • Hello Andy,

    BTW: I'd say this is the correct forum
    hm, can't say what Package signature invalid signifies. Dunno if reinstalling may fix the issue, I'd try to empty the whole AutoUpdate cache forcing a complete download before considering a reinstall.
