Computer froze during an on on-demand virus scan on Linux Mint 17.3. Why did this happen?

Hi, I'm new with Sophos anti virus. Since I want to be sure that my computer is secure. I decided to install Sophos antivirus.

After the installation when I accessed a directory I got a virus alert:

So I decided to scan my whole computer. I used the follow command:

sudo savscan -p=virus.log -di -nc -b -all -rec -remove -bs -mbr -sc -f -archive -mime -loopback /

When I looked what the result was next morning I saw that my computer froze. I could still see everything on the screen, but neither the keyboard nor the mouse reacted. The clock on my screen indicated the time 2:59 so my computer stopped apperently after some 4 hours of scanning.

Why did this happen? Did I use conflicting parameters, is there a limitation to the scanning time, is there a bug?
