In the anti virus Talpa is not supported in Linux Mint 17.3. What does this imply?

Hi I use Linux Mint 17.3 with kernel 3.19.0-59. I read that no talpa binaries are available for this Linux Mint version. What are he consequences. Is the live-protection still ok?

Can I skip extracting talpa.tar or are there still some functionalities that are in talpa that are used by sophos antivirus?

I use sophos 9 on a x86 32 system.

Hello Henk Faas,

you need either Talpa or Fanotify to intercept file opens and be able to use On-Access scanning. If no binary pack is available the installer will attempt to compile one. Please see Locally compiling Talpa Binary Packs for On-Access scanning.
