Sophos Anti-virus stops and can't be restarted without a reboot.

We had a workstation that was upgraded to Windows 10, but it doesn't work with our business software, so we reverted to Windows 7. Now Sophos will start and update when rebooting, but shortly afterward the Sophos Anti-virus service stops and cannot be restarted without a reboot.

    what is reverted? Did you install a fresh copy of Windows and Sophos, or?
    It sounds like AutoUpdate attempts an update which gets stuck halfway - for whatever reason. Might be easy to correct - or some effort. Depends on what reverted is. The install logs might give some insight. OTOH it might be less hassle to start with a clean state on the endpoint.
