Which is the best to use for a CID installation for Sophos? Or rather which will produce the least amount of hardship trying to get it to work!

I'm not sure what you are asking here? Ubuntu is a distribution of Linux.

If you want to install on Ubuntu the easiest way is probably to mount the CID using cifs and install from there.
