Chrome/Firefox can't access HTTPS sites with On-access scanning enabled

Hello,

I am currently using Sophos Endpoint Security and Control version 10.3 updated as of todat (August 4, 2015). I recently upgraded my system to Windows 10, and everything seemed to work fine at first.

It wasn't until an unsuccessful VPN setup through Windows 10 settings (actually checking out the tool, not really expecting it to work) I started noticing the following symptoms:

- Chrome can't access https:// sites (gets an ERR_TIMEOUT every time)

- Firefox won't start (although you can see the process in Task Manager)

- Microsoft Edge works perfectly.

After a lot of try, error and more error, and several configuration resets, I have narrowed to problem down to Sophos On-access scanning:

- Disabling On-access scanning _and_restarting_ Chrome restores normality: https:// sites can be accessed normally. If Chrome was giving errors it will continue malfunctioning until it's shut down and restarted. Firefox can be launched and works normally too.

- Enabling On-access scanning brings up the problem again.

Any clues as to what could be causing this behaviour?

Thanks in advance.
