Google Chrome install is now being blocked as part of Google Updater

Just noticed this today.  ChromeSetup.exe is being blocked as part of Google Updater.  This is a bit of a problem, but I have a feeling there is no good way around it.  Has anyone else had this problem?

  • This is for Sophos Home Pro.

During login I get the message "'Lockdown' exploit prevented in Google Chrome 74"

In the details it shows that ""C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --no-startup-window /prefetch:5" is blocked.  This is trying to run from HKCU/Software/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run/ and seems to be some kind of chrome background task.

I've tried telling Sophos to ignore this but it keeps happening.  The only workaround I can see at the moment is to remove the reg key.

I installed this on another Windows system this week and had the same problem so I assume I am not alone.

    Any news on a fix?
