Exclude Process from OnAccessScan, BackupRates went down

Hello,

after having installed Sophos AV, Backup rates went roughly to 50% throughput for us. So I added under HEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SAVOnAccess the String ExcludeProcess0 and gave it "beremote.exe" (the symantec backupexec agent) and restarted the machine afterwards. However, rates didn't go up and from resource monitor I can see that the process SavService.exe is touching the exact files that beremote.exe is currently backing up. So i wonder if the process exclusion did work? Any way to verify the process exclusion is working?

Thanks

Florian

  • OK, it's a really old post but just in case someone stumbles across this in their quest for a solution:

The reason that it's not working is most likely because of a typo. The registry string is called ExcludedProcess0 not ExcludeProcess0
