Duplicate groups in AD

Since upgrading to v9/9.5, I think, I've gained 45 duplicates of SophosAdministrator in AD. Similarly SophosOnAccess, SophosPowerUser, SophosUser.

Many are empty, or have the same membership as the original group. Is there any reason I should keep the duplicates?

  • Yes it is a multiple DC domain and

No I didn't set things up to wait for replication, just installed to the Domain Controllers OU synchronised group so I have the multiple SophosXxxx[]CNF... AD name collision groups.

    How can I delete them?

Presumably I could uninstall SAV on every DC and then remove all the duplicate ...CNF... groups, leaving only SophosXxxx, then reinstall, but that seems a lot of time just to tidy up my AD. Is there a registry setting I could fix on each DC?

Finally: no, SAV5 isn't on my network now :)
