Router ReportData says no communication - article 17266

Hello Guys,

I face this issue on a couple of machines due to certificate errors.

RouterLog says Cannot verify peer's SSL certificate, unknown CA.

Article 17266 clearly says to reinstall the client, I was wondering if any other trick would work, as I'd need to reboot these servers. Some of them actually have 2 NICs and this caused trouble earlier, although if installed, at least one of the NICs would work fine and machine would come up with one of its names in the console...

many thanks,

DanZi

  • Hello DanZi,

I assume neither of the two causes mentioned in the article applies. This is the status after initial installation on the endpoint?

I'd need to reboot these servers
It's required for Exploit Prevention. And it is needed so that components that depend on DLLs loaded into processes can protect all processes they are supposed to. I case of a reinstall (no explicit uninstall followed by a reboot) the DLLs are already there so the reboot can be delayed.

  • Hi Christian,

No, server has not been reinstalled, and clocks are all ticking just right.

I tried to uninstall RMS only - messed up big time, so that server will definitely need a complete reinstall (and saddly a reboot). I got a few more to fiddle around with though.

  • Hello DanZi,

it's possible to take (undocumented) shortcuts and digress from the book. But there's much that can go wrong :). You can uninstall some components and AutoUpdate will magically reinstall them. It doesn't work for AutoUpdtae (naturally), or RMS and SAVXP. Selective measures are better than fiddl[ing] around [;)]
