Pre-Configuring Windows StandAlone installer AutoUpdate serverpath, name, and password.

Hello!

We have managed to configure our Mac StandAlone installer to auto configure and fill in our serverpath, name and password for auto updates, but we are completely lost as to where to begin for doing this for the Windows standalone. Could somebody help us out?

Thanks!

  • Hello ITOperations,

please see How to create a standalone or custom installer package (don't let the talk about preconfigured policies confuse you, you configure updating with the Packager).

  • Thanks Christian! You are a life saver....so we went through the packing process..but I just have two more questions...when it asks for the source folder, what is it talking about specifically? And for the patch agent, where can I find the Management Server URL? Is that the IP of my server on which our Enterprise Console is residing on? Thanks again!
  • Hello ITOperations,

I'm just the messenger, neither wrote the article nor the Packager. [:)]

    source folder
is any valid CID )the Packager performs some checks), see item 2. in chapter 4.1 of the User Guide. Normally this is the CID which is published in the Primary update location, e.g. \\YourServer\SophosUpdate\CIDs\S000\SAVSCFXP.

    Management Server URL
is usually YourServer.Your.Domain:80. Patch is not intended for use with unmanaged endpoints (and I doubt it'll work at all) so you . Are you indeed talking about stand-alone (i.e. unmanaged, not appearing in SEC) endpoints or endpoints which you can't protect from the console?
