Sophos endpoint for Linux , system requirements?

Hi Guys,

I have two questions for you guys,

1) Is sophos antivirus available for LINUX endpoints ( not servers ) ? If yes then,

2) Is it available in cloud or console or both ? And will it block USB drives.

3) Will it support the following : CentoS 6.5, Fedora 21, Ubuntu 15 ?

  • Hello Kandarp Desai1,

there's no "non-server" version, SAV for Linux is supposed to work on any kind of machine.
It's available for Central (cloud), SESC (on-premise SEC), and as stand-alone.
As to supported and system requirements - especially for the Linux version that a distribution and version isn't listed under the supported ones doesn't mean it won't work. Even on supported distributions it's not guaranteed that Talpa will compile with an upgraded kernel.

  • Thank you christian, that answered my question. I also found that the usb blocking functionality is not yet on sophos for linux and very few other vendors have such a feature.

  • Hello Kandarp Desai1,

    usb blocking
sorry, completely forgot to address this questions. Neither Device Control nor Application Control is available on Linux. Can't say if yet, enduser Linux systems are still uncommon and Linux isn't a monocultural environment like Windows or Mac OS X and a reliable and sensible implementation of such functionality isn't simple.
