External hard drive

Our data control policy works great for USB flash drives.

However,  users can copy data to an external hard drive and bypass our data control policy.

Isn’’’’t a USB external hard drive considered “removable storage”  type?   It should log or block the same way as USB flash drives.

Thanks

  • That's the weird thing.  We have device control policy active to detect but do not block.  Essentially everything is open but logging all activity.  Under the device control events, the harddrive shows up as "removable storage"
