Unblock a website in Sophos Central Admin

Firstly, if this isnt in the right area please move - or advise and i will fix.

I have a website http://embla.com.au/ which is incorrectly blocked and gives me the default message of

Website Blocked
  • Location: embla.com.au
  • Your organization's policy prohibits access to websites categorized as Alcohol & Tobacco.
  • Return to the page you were previously viewing.

My understanding is I have to goto Global Settings > Website Management. Then add a tag for the website in question, with it set to Alcohol & Tobacco.

Then i return to Endpoint protection > policies > web control > settings and add my new tag to 'Control sites tagged in Website Management' setting to 'allow'

Unfortunately this isnt working - have i missed something?

Thanks in advance

  • Wouldn't you know it - the FQDN I use to reach one customer's Sophos appliance is also classified as 'Alcohol & Tobacco' - it's the second choice at the top of the category list.  Looks like there might be a bug that incorrectly applies that category to uncategorized FQDNs.
