Outlook and Printing performance slow

Hello

Many users complain that printing and opening mails with attachments takes much longer since installing Sophos Endpoint.

I have already done the following.
- Firewall O365 required exceptions enabled
- Sophos Server/Client exceptions

support.sophos.com/.../KB-000038173
support.microsoft.com/.../virus-scanning-recommendations-for-enterprise-computers-that-are-running-windows-or-windows-server-kb822158-c067a732-f24a-9079-d240-3733e39b40bc

What other options are there that could fix this problem?

Slow internet browsing, unable to browse the web while downloads are going, and ironically, slow printing. Uninstall Sophos, all the problems go away. It's been 5 months without a solution from Sophos other than "contact support and ask for the beta driver". Awesome, ya?

I guess we're more secure if our computer is essentially unusable.

  • The architecture changes made to Sophos Endpoint earlier this year offloaded some functionality to different components. This resulted in an increased number of lookups that need to be performed against Sophos. This causes issues, particularly on systems that are CPU limited.

Our development team is focused on making improvements that will help to reduce the overall system load and improve system performance. The first of these changes will be rolled out as of Core Agent 2022.3, which will be released later this year. Further improvements are planned for the oncoming year as well to help address the issues customers have been experiencing.

You are correct, in that trying out the test-build driver would be the best course of action in this particular case. I do suggest opening a support case with our team as well, as it will be possible to request that the driver be released to your site for devices that are in the EAP group, once the rollout begins.

Unfortunately, I don't have an exact timeline, however, if you wish to remain up to date it is best to work with our GES team so they can inform you of the release and proceed with the request.

  • With all due respect, it's been months since this problem started without any sign of resolution. I am loaded down with tickets on this issue. If an architecture change created this problem, then reverse the architecture change and give it more time in development. I'm happy to beta test architecture changes. I'm not happy to beta test fixes for months on end.

  • I understand your frustrations. I will pass along your comments to our product team for consideration.

I've reached out to you via private message to inquire into your situation and suggest some policy changes that may help limit some of the performance issues you've been experiencing.
