Mac OS 12 Monterey

Hello,

just to be sure because the new MacOS Monterey will be released this year, is there a roadmap that Sophos will be compatible with the coming OS (in time)?

Will be a EAP available for the MSP Partners ?

Thanks and Regards

Phil

  • Wow, this happens every update for MacOS we're in limbo, those of us who do testing and whatnot for the new OS. I've discovered after doing everything possible that Sophos prevents the download and proper installation of the Mac Monterey beta. Treid everything possible, thinking this couldn't be it. Well I totally uninstalled the app  and voila, Monterey download installs instead of stalling out at the "preparing" stage. Every other add-on used is responsive in this regard except the virus protection software which is critical and the answer is it'll work when the GM or final is released. It's the reason I continue to use the free version.

  • Hi Randall, sorry to hear you're having issues updating. Sophos itself isn't intentionally blocking the download but that option does exist for your administrator to enforce through Application Control. Could that be what's happening in this case?

  • No, actually, I'm using the home version, so I am the administrator for my laptop on my home network and since removing Sophos, updates worked like a charm.

  • Hi Randall, thanks for the info. It doesn't help your current situation but I'm happy to say that engineering have found a solution and are currently QA'ing the fix, it should be available soon.

We found that the issue isn't unique to Monterey, and the installer will succeed after a long delay. At the preparing stage the installer is creating a massive amount of file events and the software is analyzing each of those events. We've discussed with Apple ways to be more efficient here and that improvement should be shipping shortly.
