How long should sophos take to scan my mac for the first time?

Ive just downloaded the antivirus software but so far its only got through one million files in 24 hours - I have 5,205,892 left... Is this normal?

Ive looked through the forums for any advice but not really found anything, other than other people asking similar questions with no real answers.

I have to work so I assume I just leave it running?

Any advice please?

    Hi Angie,

    Yeah, that seems to be taking a really long time. A couple things you might want to try:

    1. Restart your Mac and retry the scan

    2. If it's still really slow, create a custom scan to exclude any removable / time machine drives you might have.
