Persistant Mal/Phish-A threat

This might be a stupid question -- new to Sophos. But, when Sophos scans my iMac, it detects a "Mal/Phish-A" threat, but a "clean up" doesn't seem to fully eliminate it. When I perform the "clean up", the threat disappears from the quarantine log, but shows up again upon a repeat scan, and also shows up if I try to back up my computer to an external disc. Any suggestions? Thanks much.

  • I have a similar problem. I have been using Sophos Anti-Virus on my Mac for several months with a clear scan, then recently the Mal/Phish-A started showing up on each scan. So, I upgraded to Sophos Home to see if that would make a difference, and now every time I scan my Mac, it detects and cleans the virus, but it just comes back in the next scan. Unfortunately, in Sophos Home, it doesn't tell you the path to the file, so I can't go manually look for the source. I am running OS X 10.11.2. I'm starting to wonder if this isn't a false positive. Any suggestions?
