MBP (Mid 2009) freezes when Scanned

I had a problem when scanning all files and folders whilst running maverick, It stopped at around 20% and caused computer to freeze whereupon i had to reboot manually by turning the computer off/on.

I then upgraded to Yosemite and ran another scan and the same thing happened.

Then I started to go through individual items in my hardrive starting with my home folder. Again, computer froze. I then went through each folder in my home folder and No threats were found. I then went back to the home folder and it froze again.

Each time it freezes and is impossible to force quit - everything I touch results in beach ball spinning and totally unresponsive keys. It seems as if something is deeply embedded.

Any help very much appreciated - thanks in advance!

  • Hey cm,

Sorry you're having trouble. I wonder if you could take a look at the logs and if they can tell us anything? The below video will show you how to find them.
