On-access scan unable to activate

Hi,

After updating Sophos this morning atomatically the on-access scan is not enabled. Trying to set the access as enabled or starting a manual scan I get the information that no threat is found but problem detected. In log there is following information:

"Unable to initialize threat detection engine: virus data missing or unusable."

Running update again the message is shown that Sophos is at latest version.

I guess that the cataloge information are "corrupt" (according to message).

How to enable on-access scan again?

One thing you could try would be a manual refresh of Sophos AutoUpdate.  Can you please give the below steps a try and let me know if you're still having trouble?

    1. Open Terminal from Spotlight:

    2. Paste in the following command and press enter:
      sudo rm -rf /Library/Caches/com.sophos.sau/ ; /usr/bin/SophosUpdate

You will be prompted for your account password.  Type the same one you use to unlock System Preferences panels etc. - the password will not appear on screen.  Press enter once you have entered the password.

The command will clear all of the already downloaded files in the Sophos AutoUpdate cache and force a new download.
