Sophos' promise to update to its next Virus Removal Tool iteration falls through with no download

I've been using the Sophos Virus Removal Tool pretty well. But tonight it claimed it needed to be updated. But when I got to the actual point of downloading the new version, I receive an error message in my browser.

Pale Moon (my browser) says that it can't find the file (download promised) at http://downloads.sophos.com/inst_tools/NpYCXlSdM3UksArehgXASAZD00NDEw/withides/Sophos Virus Removal Tool.exe. The message features a couple of recommendation. Check the file name for capitalization or other typing errors. & Check to see if the file was moved, renamed or deleted. But I've been through the process a number of times now. Of course, no support is offered for those of us not paying our way. So. I wonder if that is all there is.

  • Thanks for the helpful replies. The buttons to say your answers were good are grayed out. The Subscriptions selection box to get email when someone replied did not work, so I had to look for this instead the next time it occurred to me. Thanks again.
