New to Linux and Sophos (Free Tools Version) - Trying to run a scan ( sudo sweep / -all scan_output ) and I get a lot of "Could not Open...." messages.

Question

I'm new to Linux (Ubuntu 16.4 LTS) and also new to Sophos. After looking in the online user's maual I tried running a full anti-virus scan of all file types. I get a lot of "could not open..." messages. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Should I get all these messages? I include a few examples from the scan output below. Thanks very much for any advice.  do these files exist? One possible cause are "dead" symbolic links, 470 seems reasonable. I just checked and got 447. sampling a few they are of type Link (broken) (inode/symlink) . So nothing to worry.
