Sophos Home Edition won't 'Reveal in Finder' OSX/Geonei-C

I am using Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac Home Edition 9.2.2 on my iMac running Yosemite 10.10.1.

Sophos is telling me that the threat is OSX/Geonei-C. I clicked on "Clean Up Threat", but Sophos couldn't do it. It now reports "Cleanup Failed". When I clicked on Reveal in Finder yesterday, it brought me to the location of the threat. It was in a backup on my Time Machine volume. I deleted it ( (I thought) by going into Time Machine and right-clicking on the file an choosing "Delete all backups of 'filename'".

Today it won't show open the Finder window when I click on Reveal in Finder. The Path and Filename in Show Details of the Quarantine Manager is truncated and doesn't allow the user to copy the path so that I could paste it later.  The Original Location path is truncated. Action Available says 'manual cleanup is required'. How can I do this if I don't know the path? What should I do next?

  • I have just installed Sophos Home Edition on an iMac running OX10 Yosemite and Windows XP Professional 2 (using VMware Fusion).  Wow.  First complete scan revealed OSX/Geonei-A and OSX/FkCodec-A and eight instances of Uruguay-6.  Sophos failed to cleanup the first two, and could not even find the six Uruguay .txt files.  When I looked again (Reveal in Finder) the first two were no longer listed, but when I used Finder from the toolbar - there they were.  I've done a search for the Uruguay-6 .txt files, but they don't appear to exist.  This is not an anti-virus for the faint-hearted!  I have no idea where to go to now.  I will run another complete virus check and try again.  Oh - and the first message I got when the scan had finished was that it had finisjed, but the screen display said that it hadn't.  I am losing the will to live.
