Mac OS10.6.8 strange behavior

A friend is getting a number of e-mails saying 'Your email has been hacked'; one was from my e-mail address and the other using my facebook identity but an e-mail address I don't use.

Today I had trouble with Apple Mail and the 2 browsers on my Mac. Apple mail wouldn’’’’t download and both Modzilla browsers refused to work. A drop down box on the browser asked for a User Name and Password, the drop down showed; ASL-26555 on api.mywot.com:80 - Immediately I closed the browsers. After a restart apple mail and the browsers could access the sites I wanted.

Yesterday my Skype account received a strange request from someone unknown and this hasn’’’’t happened before.

I did a full HD scan with Sophos Home Edition 9.2.2, that has detection engine 3.55.0, and Threat data 5.11. The result showed no viruses, but I wonder why there are so many strange issues occurring.

Is there any ideas on what is going on with my Mac; and how to resolve the issue? Any help would be most welcome.
