Version 9.5.2 Released Today

Hello everyone,

We just released Sophos Anti-Virus Home Edition version 9.5.2 to all users today. This version has been in "preview" status for a couple of months and we've had great feedback. Thanks to the people who installed the preview, we got more than seven thousand installs since its availability in early June.

You should see approximately a 30mb download followed by the update. As mentioned a long time ago, we do not support macOS 10.6 or 10.7 any longer, and the installation will fail. We do fully support macOS 10.8 and up, and this version should correct the updating issue seen on later versions of the Sierra 10.12 public beta builds.

Thanks for your support and let us know about issues you encounter.

  • Hello,

I have the exact same issue with time machine backups (on mac OS X 10.11.6 - sophos 9.5.2 for company). It currently takes 2hours to backup 2MBs with on-access scanning activated. Upon disabling it, 34GB are transferred in a matter of minutes. This is true backing up on networked time capsule or on networked NAS. The exclusions for the volumes are indeed activated but seem to be ignored.  Upon checking my activity monitor, I can see that the SophosScanD process is working (should not) but very slowly ... Could it be that the latest update of sophos is faulty and ignore the exclusions for networked volumed ?

The following image is from a network monitor : before the arrow, on-access checking is on and the down(red)/up(green)-load speeds are at 200kb/s max. After the arrow, on-access checking is off and the top speeds are of 20Mb/s !

    Best !
